The ISSCR Announces 2026 Election Results for Vice President and Board of Directors
The International Society for Stem Cell Research (ISSCR) is delighted to announce the results of its 2026 election for leadership positions, including vice president and members of the Board of Directors.
The election of this leadership cohort reflects ISSCR’s continued evolution as a global platform advancing stem cell science from discovery through clinical impact. With expertise spanning translational science, emerging technologies, ethics, and global policy, the Society is well positioned to guide the responsible and effective advancement of the field at a pivotal moment.
A Season of Renewal for the Global Stem Cell Community
Spring has once again arrived across much of the Northern Hemisphere, bringing with it a welcome sense of renewal. At moments like this, I am reminded that science has a special role to play. It is not merely a means of generating knowledge. It is also a shared human enterprise—one that can transcend borders, bring people together across differences, and create hope where uncertainty too often prevails. In an era increasingly marked by fragmentation, I believe it is more important than ever that we reaffirm the value of open scientific exchange, rigorous scholarship, and international solidarity.
Stem Cell Reports Named Official Journal of 2026 BaCell 3D Conference
The International Society for Stem Cell Research (ISSCR) announces that Stem Cell Reports, its official open-access, peer-reviewed journal, has been named the official journal of the BaCell 3D Organoid Conference, taking place 22-24 June 2026 in Basel, Switzerland.
BaCell 3D brings together leading scientists, innovators, and industry experts at the forefront of organoid technologies, microphysiological systems, and disease modeling. Held annually in one of Europe’s most vibrant life science hubs, the meeting fosters global collaboration and accelerates advances in in vitro multicellular systems that are transforming biomedical research.

Stem Cell Reports Appoints Hongmei Wang as Associate Editor
The International Society for Stem Cell Research (ISSCR) is pleased to announce the appointment of Hongmei Wang, Ph.D., as an Associate Editor of its journal, Stem Cell Reports. Dr. Wang is a professor of State Key Laboratory of Organ Regeneration and Reconstruction, Institute of Zoology (IOZ), Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS).
An internationally recognized leader in developmental and reproductive biology, Dr. Wang brings deep expertise in early embryo and placental development, and advanced in vitro modeling systems. Her laboratory investigates the mechanisms that govern embryonic and placental development in non-human primates and humans, with the long-term goal of improving understanding of pregnancy health and exploring culture systems that support extra-uterine embryogenesis. Her work advances understanding of developmental diseases and holds potential for improving reproductive health outcomes.
